                                                  The Pyramid of Success
                                                                      John Wooden
                                                                         25 blocks
Block 1: Industriousness
"There is no substitute for work. Worthwhile results come from hard work and careful planning."
What Industriousness means is to work hard. People can be that just by working hard. The First block of John Wooden's pyramid of success is industriousness. Which is the will to work hard and do work as John Wooden describes it. It is a critical part of the pyramid because worthwhile results only come from hard work and careful planning. You cannot expect to do great work if you refuse to work hard and refuse to prepare for it. If you wait till the last minute of the days to get your work started, you have already failed. The fruition of your labor will be not great and you will feel like you wasted time just doing the work because you rushed it and it is not the work you know you are able to accomplish. If you prepare your work in advance and are passionate about it, the fruits of your labor will be sweet and worthwhile. That is what this key of industriousness is conveying. Work diligently, passionately, and tirelessly and you will find that your work is highly regarded and held with high-esteem.

Block 2Enthusiasm
"It is the engine that powers all blocks of the Pyramid. It is why I chose Industriousness and Enthusiasm as the cornerstones of my Pyramid of Success. It is where everything begins."
I sometimes have enthusiasm on some things and it depends on what. Enthusiasm is intense enjoyment, interest, or approval. The word was originally used to refer to a person possessed by a god, or someone who exhibited intense piety.
Block 3: Friendship
"Comes from mutual esteem, respect and devotion. Like marriage it must not be taken for granted but requires a joint effort."
Friendship means the emotions or conduct of friend, the state of being friends. The third block of John Wooden's pyramid of success is Friendship. John Wooden does not give an exact definition for friendship but that is uncessary as we all know what friendship is. However difficult it is to explain, we all have experienced it, we all know when it's there and when it is not. John Wooden says it comes down to mutual respect and esteem, it must not be taken for granted and requires joint effort. If you have associates that do not respect you, they are not your friends. There needs to a sense of respect between both parties because no matter how close you seem, a lack of respect in any of the two people means they might do or in some cases not do something a friend will do for you. I once knew a young man named Pedro, I thought he was my best friend but he did not respect me. I decided to stop talking to him in November of 2017 and my quality of life had increased tenfold. Things I could never see happening are now happening. It isn't a coincedence that I began to succeed when I dropped this friend and his toxic, unsupportive, and disrespectful, nature. This is also the case for many other people, such as Shaquille O' Neal. You have to find friendship in those who respect you. It cannot be taken for granted how important mutal respect is between friends.

Block 4: Loyalty
"To yourself and to all those depending upon you. Keep your self-respect."
Loyalty means the quality of being loyal to someone or something. I am loyal to my friends and family. Try to keep your promises and do your fair share of the work. Also being true to someone or just being true in general.  The power of Loyalty is the reason why John Wooden placed it in the center of the Pyramid's foundation. For example, if your friends tell you to go to the park with them and you promise and said ok , then the day comes and you don't go, your friends will be upset and they will not trust you anymore and you broke your promise. So this makes you not loyal to your friends and that you don't keep your promises.
Block 5: Cooperation
"With all levels of your co-workers. Listen if you want to be heard. Be interested in finding the best way, not in having your own way. "
Cooperation means the process of working together to the same end. Cooperation is the process of working or acting together to the same end. Cooperation can be used  in the workplace and can make the difference between success and failure for many businesses. In a cooperation workplace, individuals voluntarily engage in open communication. Management and low levels employees work together and try to keep arguments to a minimum. Workers are proactive in the sense that they try to prevent problems before they have a chance to occur. Cooperation is not always an easy thing to achieve in the workplace, but it is worth the effort because it leads to a more way to speech and productive operation.
Block 6: Ambition
A strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. Ambition is a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. It is also one of the important blocks of the pyramid because it encourages you to achieve/ complete something with hard work. For example, you write on your life planning goals journal a goal, you will be excited to achieve that goal because you are being Ambition, and once you complete it you go on and move to next goals and start writing them down.
Block 7: Self-Control
"Practice self-discipline and keep emotions under control. Good judgement and common sense are essential."
Self- Control is so important because it gives you an aspect of inhibitory control, is the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behavior in the face of a desire to do something. For example, let's say you have to caught a flight but u have a fear of flying so you need to assemble all of your courage and self control to be calm during the flight. This can boost your confidence and give you the ability to control yourself when you are in tough situations.

Block 8: Alertness
"Be observing constantly. Stay open-minded. Be eager to learn and improve."
Alertness is the quality of being alert.  Alertness is when you are alert like aware of you and your surroundings. This can help you stay or be open- minded about yourself or others, you will be excited to learn and improve. For example, if you are in a group project and the teacher explains the directions, you have to be alert and aware of what the teachers is saying because without being aware you will never finish that group project, that's why is it ever important to be alert. Helps you focus and be happy to learn new stuff and to improve on them.
Block 9: Initiative
"Cultivate the ability to make decisions and think alone. Do not be afraid of failure, but learn from it."
This can help you a lot in your future by beginning with a process on your own with no other help for you can learn from your mistakes, for you can make your own decision, think alone, and to never be afraid of failure, but learn from it. For example, an employee might take the initiative to come up with a new product or service that the company could offer. So the employee did it all by himself/herself so he/she made her/his own decisions.

Block 10: Intentness
"Set a realistic goal. Concentrate on its achievement by resisting all temptations and being determined and persistent."
Intentness means to be firmly or steadfastly fixed or directly. Initiative is an individual's action that begins with a process, often done without direct managerial influence.

Block 11: Sincerity (keeps friends)
Sincerity means to be the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. Sincerity is the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. This can help you in your future because you can keep your friends and friends really help you in your life. For example, they are by your side when you need them.

Block 12: Adaptability
That means the quality of being able to adjust to new conditions. Adaptability is the quality of being able to adjust to new conditions. This can really help you because it shows that you are not afraid of trying something new. For example, in math class you learn how to solve a problem but with that one method and then the teacher shows another method to solve the problem and tells you if that method doesn't work do the other one. This is when you need to have adaptability to show you are able to adjust to new conditions.
Block 13: Condition
"Mental-Moral-Physical. Rest, exercise and diet must be considered. Moderation must be practiced. Dissipation must be eliminated."
Condition the state of something, especially with regard to its appearance, quality, or working order. This block is the work to quality and working, it's an important block because this is where you have to work and show your skills and what you capable of doing. For example, you have a essay that is due in 1 day you will need to use this block to work and work to finish that essay but don't take to much pressure and focus on what your doing.

Block 14: Skill
"A knowledge of and the ability to properly and quickly execute the fundamentals. Be prepared and cover every little detail."
Skill is important because it is better to excel at one or a few things as opposed to knowing how to do a little bit of everything. Skill makes everything that much easier. If you are going into a certain profession it is best for you to be highly skilled in said subject. As you will be the person people go to whever someone is seeking assistance or just chooses to appreciate someone skilled in their craft. Being skilled does not mean being really good in some aspects and having glaring weaknesses in others, it means you must be able to answer any potential question or counter any potential situation thrown at you. It is highly important you be skilled in whatever you do.

Block 15:  Team Spirit
"A genuine consideration for others. An eagerness to sacrifice personal interests of glory for the welfare of all."
This block of the Pyramid addresses a most important characteristic: selflessness which is the opposite of selfishness. I mean by this that you are eager to sacrifice personal glory or gain for the greater good, namely, the welfare and success of your organization, your team, your group. For me it meant I was constantly searching for that player who would make our team 'great' rather than a someone who was just a 'great player'. There is a big difference and that difference is what constitutes Team Spirit.I did not want a person on our team who was reluctant to sacrifice for the good of the team. I prized the individual who was eager to sacrifice for our common good.

Block 16: Honesty (in thought and action)
"Honesty is the best policy." (Ben Franklin)
Honestly means the quality of being honest. Honesty can help you in the future and in your everyday lives because it shows if people can trust you or not and if you give them your honesty you can have trust and make new friends that will help live your life and help you threw it. And it will help you in school a lot for example, the math teacher finish explaining the notes and ask the class is there any questions and you want to ask a question but you don't do it, you have to be honest and raise your hand to ask that question or else it will prevent you from learning and you are just not gonna get it and then when the test comes you are gonna be clueless.
Block 17: Resourcefulness (proper judgment)
“Make the most out of what you have.” (Anonymous)

"If you have a dream, if you have something you've always wanted to do, look within yourself because that is where resourcefulness resides; and go for it. (Jennifer Witterick)
Resourcefulness is an important key to success because it gives you the ability to find out clever ways to overcome difficulties quick. With this you can do stuff you always wanted to do and become what you wanted to become. For example, you have a project due in 2 days you need to be Resourcefulness to get what you need to get done, so you need to find some ways to finish this by tomorrow and quick.
Block 18: Poise
"Just being yourself. Being at ease in any situation."
What poise means is that to be graceful and elegant bearing in a person. Poise is somethign everyone should have as everyone should be themselves. No person should have to try and be someone else to get others to like them, it is great to emulate some people but you should not be a carbon copy of them. If you want to be successfull, it is wise to copy the lifestyle and actions of others succsessful people such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos but living your life like theirs will not amount to anything because although both Musk and Bezos are probably some of the most intelligent and hard working people on the planet, there was luck involved in their success. That is where poise comes into play. If you choose to work hard and learn from the mistakes of others than you will amount to great things, only if you be yourself. Because if you are someone you are not then people will not like you for you, they like you for the person you are trying to emulate. It is very important that you do not lose sight of this and how crucial it is to be yourself and at ease in any situation, poise.

Block 19: Confidence
"Thorough preparation breeds confidence" Gerald Bell in
"The Carolina Way"
Confidence is a great way to success because it is about yourself and if you don't care about yourself and don't feel that you can do the impossible such as your goals. You need to fix that now and then it will help you in many problems. For example, you have to presentation for school but you don't feel confidence that your going to do well, you are going to do bad because you don't think positive have faith in yourself.

Block 20: Reliability (creates respect)
Reliability is the quality of being trustworthy or of performing consistently well. Trust is very important because you need to have people who trust you for they can help you get to the future you always wanted trust is a big deal with it comes to your future and career.
Block 21: Fight (determined effort)
Fight is not the kind of fight of physical this kind of fight is more like work, hard work because in order to be successful you need to fight for it not physical but work hard for it. For example, you want to get in to a college you really want to go to, you need to fight to get in show them you really want to go in that college and prove them wrong, hard work pays off.

Block 22: Competitive Greatness
" Be at your best when your best is needed. Enjoyment of a difficult challenge."
He never mentioned being competitive in association with winning or being a great competitor in association with being a winner. For John being a great competitor was not about winning or losing. He had a much higher standard. He also described competitive greatness this way: “The next and last block in the structure just above poise and confidence is competitive greatness. This is the ability to be at your very best when your very best is needed. Competitive greatness is enjoying it when things are difficult.
Block 23: Integrity (purity of intention)
Integrity simplest form is purity of intention and it also kinda related to reliability. When we have integrity we are not going to do anything that will be demeaning to anybody else either on or off the court. When you use Integrity as a character term is defined as the quality of being unimpaired or an adherence to moral principles. What this means is that you need to be honest and to be able to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. If you have no integrity people will always mistreat you and disrespect you. This also means that you need to respect others and respect their beliefs.

Block 24: Faith (through prayer)
Believe and Achieve. Positive belief.
Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something, The expression “just have faith, it will work out” is used by people to encourage and comfort someone facing serious problems or stressful situations. Faith is very important because you need to trust and have confident in someone or something. For example,  you have a group project and you need it.

Block 25: Patience (good things take time)
Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Patience in life can make them reach out for the stars. With patience you can avoid making hasty decisions. Life is not about living in the future or in the past. Life is about accepting the present moment. Patience is an important tool in overcoming frustration. Patience allows us to suspend judgment long enough to make informed decisions, thus paving the path to a happy and peaceful life.

Reflection: The Pyramid of Success really help out people who played basketball and to show them about Patience and many other terms that are great. But the Pyramid of Success isn't just applicable to basketball it's also relevant to the business world, marriage and even health struggles. We need to set a realistic goal. Concentrate on its achievement by resisting all temptations and being determined and persistent. John Wooden was a living legend.  He was also one of the most successful basketball coaches of all time and he lived a simple life focusing on personal excellence, personal integrity, love, and balance.

On 1/21/18 I had a soccer game in la which we lost because we only had 7 players against 11. It was really windy that day we only lost 3-1 which isn't really bad since we had 4 less players. That day I was tired because I ran a lot. The next day I watched Barcelona play which was good because they beat real betis 5-0. Also watched the AFC and NFC championship games witch the patriots and eagles will face off in the Superbowl. I feel like the eagles will come on top and beat the patriots in the Superbowl.

                                                         10 keys to personal power
Key 1: "Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life.  Have a sense of direction and know where you’re going.  If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."
What I think this means is the quality of being clear in particular. Also to have an idea on what your going to do. Be aware on what desicions your making, set goals so you will push yourself a little more than usual. If not then most likely you are going to fail.  This first key is a good one because It will hep you start of good and set goals.

Key 2Competence
"If you commit to excellence, opportunities will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get."

The Second Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is to have competence. Competence is the ability to do something effectively or efficiently. If you have competence in life you are able to commit to excellence as Brian Tracy says. With your commitment to excellence, opportunities will actively come your way, and if you continue to be committed, more fortune will find its way to you. Someone that has competence is LeBron James. James was committed to excellence as soon as he stepped on an NBA court in 2003. He continuously improved his game and training every year, season after season. The results were apparent. First an MVP, then a Finals Appearance, Then an NBA Championship. All while James was the star of his team. That is committing to excellence. James was competent from the start. He knew he was good, but he knew he could always be better. Lebron always made sure to use his off season as time to improve something of his game. That is why he is still the best player in the NBA at the age of 33 and in his 15th NBA Season. LeBron is competence.

   Key 3Concentration
"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time?” before you start anything."
The Third Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is to have concentration. Concentration is not only staying locked in at all times for whatever task you are doing. It is also making the best use of your time. It is important to not only know what you want to do but also what you want to accomplish. If you don't know what you want to accomplish and just go into tasks just thinking you'll just go with the flow. You must concentrate on what you're doing and how much you're going to do it. If you remain diligent and keep your focus, you will succeed in anything you put your mind to. You have to keep yourself locked in so you can succeed just as many other before you have done. People like Mark Zuckerberg continually kept their concentration to develop their craft. Mark Zuckerberg didn't work on facebook for an hour and called it sufficient. Mark worked upwards of 9-10 hours a day perfecting it and making it better. Many might say 9-10 hours is too much, 10 hours is a lot of time but it is never too much making your craft better
Key 4Common Sense

The Fourth Key to Personal power by Brian Tracy is to have common sense. Common sense is most critical for developing yourself and learning from your mistakes. The saying "A wise man learns from his or others mistakes while a foolish man doesn't learn at all." is an important one because if you don't learn from your mistakes you cannot grow as a person as many others will. If you choose to follow the four steps of training your mind, thinking things through, listening to your intuition, and learning from your setbacks as Brian Tracy explains, then you will go far. If your sit back and expect things to happen then you are in for a shock because you cannot get something from nothing. Just as the laws of physics explains. You cannot expect to receive something for doing nothing or giving nothing. Brian Tracy explains this in his speeches. An example of this is trait is Wayne Gretzky, he used his common sense and learned from each of his mistakes in order to become better and develop in his hockey career. He now holds 61 major records in hockey including most assists and points.
Key 5Creativity

"Except the fact that every human being is a genius.  The hallmark of creativity is asking questions.  The people who are most creative ask the most questions."
What creativity means is the use of imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. What the quote means is that when people are being creative they are just curious or wanting to know more. The people who are most creative are the most curious ones. Iam sometimes creative when I do something. I feel like everyone should be creative at times. .

Key 6Consideration
"The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life.""Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator.  Take courses in listening, speaking, etc.""If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you’ll be the best educated person in history."
The Sixth Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is to have consideration which means to value and care for the opinions, beliefs and feelings of others. Brian Tracy says the quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life. This is greatly true as even if you don't want to believe it,the opinions of others heavily influence the success that you are capable of. You can be the greatest worker or the smartest person of all time but if you do not have the people skills to compliment these aptitudes, you will find that your success is greatly hindered. If you do not value your relationships with others, then people will see you as a jerk that they don't like and if they are wicked enough, they will do all in their power to make you fail. Even if they don't hate your guts, it is still a possibility they give someone else the big job as opposed to you. Simply because they like the other person more even if you are more skilled.
Key 7Consistency

"Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."

Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work.  Be the person that people can depend upon.  That if you say you’ll do something you do it.."
What consistency means is that The Seventh Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is to have consistency which he describes as dependable and having a nice even pace.  Brian Tracy says this is superior to doing fast spurts of work as you can be consistent which makes you dependable. If you are always working at the same pace and not working a lot for a few hours than none at all it will make you more dependable. It requires patience and discipline but it will be better for you in the long run. If you can be consistent in the amount of work you do then you will have no problem making progress towards anything you can imagine. Too many people do a lot of work at one time and rest for a usually even longer period. But the people who work persistently and diligently are the ones with the most success and more revered for their success. One real life example is the Spurs organization of the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs have remained at the top of the NBA every year for the past two decades because why? because they're consistent. They never put all their chips in one year to try and guarantee a championship. They consistently develop their team and if they do not acquire any big-name free agents, they fill the roster with role players and make every roster spot a useful one.

Key 8Commitment
"No success is possible without commitment.  The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success."
"Become totally absorbed in your work.  Be totally committed."
The Eighth Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is commitment which is staying focused and totally absorbed in your work. It is important to be able to commit to things because if you can stay fully focused on whatever you want, anything is possible. Anything you want to aspire to be, if you devote all your time and become fully absorbed as Brian Tracy says, you will find that you can get whatever job or occupation you want, if you put the time necessary. A real life example of this ability to commit and put full dedication to their craft is Kobe Bryant. Bryant is a 5-time champion, 19x NBA All-Star, 4x ASG MVP and 1 time NBA MVP. Bryant did not earn this achievement by being lucky or being a product of a system. Bryant poured hours upon hours of practice to get to the unstoppable state he was at. If he wanted to learn a new move that he could put in his endless bag of tricks, give him one off-season and he revolutionize it. Bryant gave his life to the pursuit of basketball excellence he is the definition of becoming absorbed in his work. He never went on vacations with his family during the off-season, he knew he could be practicing instead. He had only sat games when he absolutely couldn't continue. Kobe would sleep 3-4 hours a day so that he could have even more time to practice his craft. This work ethic landed him as one of the greats. If you could even become a fraction as absorbed in your work as Kobe Bryant, you would become amazing at what you could accomplish.

Key 9Courage

"The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life."

What this key means is to have courage and not be afraid of anything.
The Ninth Key to Personal Power by Brian Tracy is commitment. Which best is described as the fear of nothing. However do not fail to recognize how important it is to know the risks associated with something. These are two different things. Keeping those thing in mind but not letting them stop you is the best method to approach all things in life. If you think you're going to fail then you're probably going to fail. That is why you should not let the pressure crack you and keep pushing and not fear failure. One real life example of someone not being afraid of failure is Steve Jobs, founder of Apple. In the tech world, every official release is a risk. One might buy too many units and have unhappy customers while having to much units you will lose money. Jobs was a true innovator, not scared of taking a chance for each release. First it was the Apple II, a home computer with typography never before seen. Windows had already made their way onto the market. Steve did not back down. Then it was the iPod. A digital mp3 player taking on the giants of the Walkman. Then the iPhone, the most revolutionary Apple product to be released a touch screen smartphone? At its release in 2009, a phone like that was one of luxury. Now it seems as it is one of necessity since at least 1/5 people have one. Steve was walking a tightrope and every release was a gust a wind that could possibly knock him down. But Steve remained cool and collected and had courage to not let it affect him.

Key 10Confidence
"You only get confidence by doing things over and over again ."
The Tenth and Final Key to personal power by Brian Tracy is to have confidence. Confidence is when you are able to do anything without the fear of failure or rejection. You know these things are a possibility but they do not stop you from your pursuit. Very similar to courage but courage is not having fear of the unknown. You don't know much about what you're getting yourself into. But having confidence means you have done something enough to know that you should not be scared of uncertainty. You know what you are capable and are confident that everything will be alright in the end. You do not need to stress or worry about anything because you know how to handle any thing life throws at you. The greats of any field have mastered this because they perform on a night to night basis and don't crack under the pressure. Sports icons, musicians, and many other occupations, if they are great at what they do, they are confident in what they do. People like Steven Spielberg, Brian Wilson are confident in what they do. They know how successful they have been and no matter what they are confident in their ability. Steven Spielberg didn't just have one movie or genre he did for his entire career. He has ventured out and beyond his comfort and familiarity zones and has done movies about time travel, bringing dinosaurs back to life, aliens, and so much more. Spielberg had the confidence to try these things only because he was comfortable in what he was doing.

Reflection:
After reading and writing about these 10 keys to personal power I can confidently say that these keys are important to being a successful person. Brian Tracy's mission from the beginning is to inform others on how to be successful by following these Ten Keystones. It becomes noticeably more and more clear to you as you receive the tenth keystone. Once you receive the 10th keystone as I have. You will have a complex and cohesive understanding of each and every key as they all work together for you to see the bigger picture and understand just why Brian Tracy was so adamant to share these keys. Supplemented with each quote, was a clip from the actual seminar that Brian Tracy once shared these keys. It becomes very clear to anyone that Brian Tracy is serious and joyous to share these keys as he has seen them at work. Brian Tracy said he studied for many years on how he has seen these keys in the most successful people. During most clips from his seminar, Tracy says the successful people he studies have the traits he talks about. Such as in concentration where Tracy says "the most successful people know that you must consistently and constantly work" not work in big chunks and then rest for just as long.Tracy always begins with "the most successful people have..." and depending on his keystone, he would say. So ultimately, these 10 keys are important because of how passionate Brian Tracy is about them and how he has seen how great people are imbued with them.

Class Evaluation1.              Some things that I like about this class is that  how we have to type to do our work. But the only time we have to use pencil is for our journals. Some other things that I like is we can do code or also scratch to play any random game. But I like this class overall.

2.               Some things that I don't like is the 7 habits because it was kind of boring to me. Also some other things can get boring to me and even some other people think it is boring. If you ctw you get in trouble so that is why you need to ctr instead to do well all the time.

3.             Some recommendations to pass this class is you have to choose the right. Also you have to behave good to pass. Just act well and you will pass this class for sure.

4.              I always brought my journal to school and i did my goals most of the time. Another highlight is  my 7 habits, I did them all and I understood all seven of them.

 5.               In the beginning of the school year I was lazy In this class so I just messed around In the first month of school.  But after that I started doing good and now iam passing this class.

6.                I always write some goals on my life planning goals journal but once in a while I read my goals.  I spend 5 minutes on the journal but sometimes i forget to report the journal.

7.                 Iam committed to be a ctr person for the rest of my life. I know sometimes I might not ctr but I will try to.  I know it will help me be a better person because I will be doing good stuff for good people. I hope other people will Ctr to not just me.
