                                                Importance Of Setting Goals
Goals Help Us Believe In Ourselves. Setting goals for yourself is a way to fuel your ambition. Goal setting isn't just about creating a plan for your life and holding yourself accountable, its also about giving us the inspiration necessary to aim for things we never thought possible. Like me I have a goal which is to go to Hawaii and I think that it is possible for me one day I will do It. Setting goals make you want to do something more than if you never set a goal. You should always have a few goals in your life that you want to accomplish.

Six Rules to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.........

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
1) "Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
2) "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
3) "Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."
I agree with this rule because if you want to make friends and build relationships you must be genuinely interested in other peoples activities. That way they feel welcome to talk to you and want to talk to you. John Lennon said "You'd rather have one good friend than one hundred bad ones." This holds true for this statement as I'd rather have one friend I can really talk as opposed to a bunch of essentially strangers that you probably just say hi to.  It is important to talk to people and actually care about what they say so you can get to know them and they appreciate your listening. If someone can manage and remember the relationships of 1000 people but not be genuinely interested whats the importance of them. If someone known 10 people but care about every word they talk about. They will be more satisfied than the person with a thousand friends because they can tell their friends everything
Rule 2: Smile
1) "Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."
2) "You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
3) "It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."
I totally, 100% agree with this rule in improving your life and making people like you. If you smile, as the statement says. It shows people that you are genuinely interested in them as rule 1 told us to be. Smiling is contagious. So even if you aren't happy and someone smiles at you, you have to be pretty pessimistic to not smile back. And if you are happy and you smile at someone, then you can be pretty sure that they will smile back at you. it is critical that you are able to smile even when you don't feel like it if you want people to like you. You don't have to have a smile on your face 24/7 but make sure you're approachable. You may know someone who smiles all the time or a lot and chances are you enjoy seeing or talking to them. That is the impact of a smile. Which is why everyone should smile. Basketball Legend Tim Duncan said "I enjoy jokes, smiling, and making people smile. I may be a little different, but that's OK, who wants to be normal anyway?" This is relevant because Duncan likes making people smile like how many should be.
Rule 3: Remember names
1) "A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
2) "If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."The third way to make people like you is to remember names. It is important to remember names so that people know you are genuniely interested in them. They think that they matter to you which they most likely do if you are interested enough to remember their names. If you remeber names, you will sooner start making impact on people as they will see you as the person that always greets them by their name. Rapper Jay-Z said "I treat people based on who they really are, not the name. Everyone has to be respectful and be a human being. No one's above... That's how I carry it with anybody" Although this is not related to my topic I added it because we need a quote in these reflections. Not trying to be disrespectful but it is a very niche market for quotes. I think Jay-Z is right however as you should treat people as defined by their actions and characters. Not be the name associated with them. Kanye West's son shouldnt't be put down as a bad person just because of the actions of his father.
Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely."The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature." (John Dewey)"Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."

" If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems.
I agree with this rule for making people like you. It is an interesting topic to ponder about. It is a true statement as if you actively listen to what other want to tell you. Whether it be a small or notable occurance, it will make them more likely to talk to you and definitely enjoy you more as a person. Because If you listen you can be the person people have an ear to always hear their ramblings which is something everyone needs in life. Some bum once said "There is a difference between listening and waiting for your turn to speak." I think this statement holds relevance to today as you should listen to what everyone tells you. It will be useful later. I am now going to add onto this statement by putting a bunch of filler text right about here to make it seem longer than it actually is. So that way I receive full credit for this assignment. This will not become a habit because its a switch I can flip on and off. Like LeBron in the playoffs and regular season but I never LeCoast during the school year Im always in LePlayoff mode. Any why I agree with this statement by whoever made it because listening is a great tool for personal success and immediate success
Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest."The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."
The fifth attitude of a high achiever is to be teachable. Not as being able to learn but being willing to learn. A teachable person is someone who, not only is able to be taught and learn but want to be taught and learn. An example of people who are able to be teachable are some of the greatest. Jimi Hendrix had to taught to play guitar, Micheal Phelps had to be taught how to swim, LeBron James had to be taught on how to play basketball. The list goes on and on. Duke Basketball coach, Mike Kzrzyzewski, said: "The thing I loved the most - and still love the most about teaching - is that you can connect with an individual or a group, and see that individual or group exceed their limits." Those who are teachable reach and exceed their limits. Limits are non-existent with teaching and hard work. If you had the best teacher and you weren't willing to learn, guess what that teacher means nothing. If you had the most mediocre teacher of all time, the most average person you can think of. But, you are hungry for knowledge and willing to learn, then you will go far.

The final attitude of a high achiever is to make someone else feel special and they will like you all the time because you make him feel good.
I agree with this method of making people like you because it is done sincerely. If you do anything sincerely you will do it well. Doing things with sincerity makes people think you are driven and motivated. It is important that you think of it in such a way. Making someone feel imporant is the key to having them enjoy your company which is what you want. You want someone to feel important. You cannot do this without being sincere. Basketball Coach John Wooden said "Making someone feel important is the key to their heart." I wholesomely agree with this statement as this is what this rule is about. Making someone feel important. So In conclusion you must be able to be sincere to make someone feel important.
Reflection: To conclude the finale of the 6 rules to make someone like you, it is important to reflect on each and every one of these rules. Consider and think deeply about what makes each of these rules important. It is critical to apply these to your life. Unlike like many other things, these 6 rules can make deep impact in your life. It is unheard of that someone applied these 6 rules and isn't making new friends. It is important to apply these rules in your life to make more people like you. Have that be something like friends, co-workers, or family. It is geninely interesting that these simple, yet complicated rules can make people like you. It is not hard to apply them and use them but it is hard to have the heart to attempt to applicate them into your social life. It would be great if you can just apply these life rules without a hitch but there is effort you must put foward towards it. John Stockton said that you have to be able toapply things you learn into your life. Which is immensely true in this scenario. That is why I think it is important to follow these 6 ways of making people like you, it will help you later in life.

THE SIX ATTITUDES OF HIGH ACHIEVERS

1. Make no small plans : Plan BIG
What this means is that try to plan things out of the ordinary. Plan big go for something that you really want to achieve in your life. The first attitude of a high achiever is to plan big. It is important to plan big because life is not worth living if one does not take risks. People that don't make big goals or plans are usually the type to play it safe. Which, although playing safe is good, not taking risks is egregious. Risks bring uncertainty and flavor into life. Not taking risks makes life a dull rice cake as opposed to the smorgasbord it can be. Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali once said, "He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." This statement rings true because if you play it cool and safe, yes you won't get in trouble and lose success, but you will not find any either. If you can plan big, you will go far. Making small plans is not bad but not making big plans is unfavorable.

2. Do what they fear

What this means is that what ever someone is afraid of something prove them that you are not afraid of it.What the writer is attempting to convey is that you must be able to take risks and step outside their comfort zone. If you are able to do what you fear and consistently step out of your comfort zone. People say that you can do anything when in reality if you aren't willing to take risks, you might as well give up then and there. 99.9995% of the time, it is impossible to do well without taking risks. Comedic legend Chris Rock states: "Comedians tend to find a comfort zone and stay there and do lamer versions of themselves for the rest of their careers." I am particularly fond of this statement because I like Chris Rock but this statement holds for every other career path. If someone is satisfied with what they have, they don't realize how they could possibly be missing out on a better situation for them. That is something I hold true and hold myself up to the high standard of. I never want to settle for mediocrity. I either do the best I can or below my capability. Never in the middle, there is no gray area.

3. Willing to prepare

The third attitude of a high achiever is to be willing to be prepared. Being prepared isn't just planning for immediate success. It also is important to plan for long term success and prepare. One must also prepare for disaster in addition to success. Those who are willing to prepare are those who will be successful. UCLA former basketball coach John Wooden urges us to be prepared in his quote: "Be prepared and be honest." If you had two people living the same lives, except one person has 3x their monthly spending saved in their bank account, while the other has only their exact amount of monthly spending. Sure both of them are prepared but one will be more successful in their later endeavors. If they lose their job, most people find a job in about a month or two. If you don't have that 3 month cushion, you may feel the sense of desperation becoming more and more nagging. If you have the 3 month cushion. You will feel more at ease if you mess up your first job interview. Which may lead you to getting a job faster than someone who is struggling to meet their personal and financial 1 month deadline.

4. Willing to risk failure

The fourth attitude of a high achiever is to be willing to fail. The wise man learns from, their mistakes while the fool makes the same mistake over and over. You must be able to learn from setbacks and experiences. That's what separates the commoners from the Elites. Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg says that "The biggest risk is not taking any risk... In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks."  I believe this is a strong statement because I have witnessed it first hand. I used to be scared of rejection and failure because I thought once that happened, there was no rebounding or coming back from it. But now, as I am older, I realize that if your scared to fail, you will likely fail. You must push yourself to not be frightened of failure. The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.

The sixth and final attitude of a high achiever is to have heart. Heart is important to have because heart brings determination and drive. Particularly in sports, everything can be taught except for heart and height. Take former Detroit Piston and Chicago Bull, Dennis Rodman. Was horrendously undersized for his position but had the heart to succeed in basketball for years, collecting 5 NBA championships. You cannot be as successful in something you don't have heart in in comparison to something you would otherwise have heart with. Jesse Owens said "We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort." You must have heart to be successful because otherwise you won't have a drive to pick you back up when you fall. Jesse Owens elaborates on that by saying that in order to make dreams a reality, you must have determination, or heart. You must have heart.
